Balasore triple train collision (Coromandel Express) (2023): Deaths and Ex Gratia Relief
Coromandel Express entered a loop line and hit a stationary goods train near Bahanaga Bazar station; derailed coaches struck the Bengaluru-Howrah Express. The Railway Minister told Parliament that 295 passengers died, 176 were grievously injured and 451 had simple injuries. The inquiry cited lapses in signalling circuit alteration.
