MPLADS: MP Fund Allocation, Spending and Works for Every MP
How much each Member of Parliament's Local Area Development fund has received, how much has actually been spent, and the works recommended, sanctioned and completed, for every State and UT. In the 18th Lok Sabha so far, Rs 8,355.68 crore has been allocated and Rs 2,919.08 crore spent (34.9% utilised).
How MPLADS works
- Every MP can recommend local works worth Rs 5 crore a year in their constituency (Rajya Sabha MPs anywhere in their State).
- The money does not go to the MP. The Union government releases it to the district authority (usually the District Collector), which checks and sanctions each work.
- A local agency builds the work and the district pays the vendor directly. Each recommendation, sanction and payment is recorded on the MPLADS portal.
- Unspent money stays with the district and carries over; works must be for durable public assets, not for private benefit or recurring costs.
