Who died, what happened, and what the government paid
Natural disasters, such as floods, cyclones, landslides, cloudbursts and earthquakes, and accidents for which the Union, State or UT
governments announced ex gratia relief. For each one you can see the death toll, what happened, the relief each government sanctioned
per victim, the total this adds up to, and whatever has been reported as actually paid. The Disaster Relief Funds tab shows the
national relief rates and the money the Centre releases to States for disasters.

How the figures are built
How disaster relief is paid for
Every State has a State Disaster Response Fund, filled mostly by the Centre. When a disaster is too large for it, the Centre adds money from the National Disaster Response Fund after its teams assess the damage. The rates below are the national minimum for each victim; many States add more from their own relief funds.
Central releases to States
Money the Centre released or approved for States and UTs hit by disasters, from Ministry of Home Affairs releases and their reports, newest first.
