Teesta glacial lake outburst flood (2023): Deaths and Ex Gratia Relief
A cloudburst over South Lhonak lake in north Sikkim burst the glacial lake and sent a flash flood down the Teesta valley, washing away bridges and the Chungthang dam. Toll shown is as of 7 October 2023, when 141 people were still missing; it rose later as bodies were recovered downstream.
