Fertiliser subsidy (urea and nutrient-based subsidy): eligibility, documents and how to use it
Who can use Fertiliser subsidy (urea and nutrient-based subsidy)
- Every farmer who buys fertiliser from an authorised retailer pays the subsidised price. The subsidy itself is paid to the fertiliser company, not to the farmer.
- Each sale is recorded on the retailer's point-of-sale (PoS) machine against the buyer's Aadhaar.
How to use Fertiliser subsidy (urea and nutrient-based subsidy), step by step
- Get a Soil Health Card from the agriculture department to know how much of each fertiliser your land needs.
- Buy only from an authorised fertiliser retailer and carry your Aadhaar.
- Authenticate on the retailer's PoS machine and pay no more than the maximum retail price printed on the bag.
- Ask for the PoS receipt showing the quantity and price.
- If a retailer overcharges, refuses to sell, or forces you to buy other products with it, complain to the district agriculture officer.
