PM-KISAN: eligibility, documents and how to apply for it
Who can apply for PM-KISAN
- Farmer families (husband, wife and minor children) who own cultivable land in their names in the State land records.
- A bank account seeded with Aadhaar and completed e-KYC are needed for payment.
Who is not eligible for PM-KISAN
- Institutional landholders.
- Families with a member who holds or held a constitutional post, or is a present or former Union or State Minister, MP, MLA, Mayor or District Panchayat chairperson.
- Serving or retired officers and employees of the Central or State governments and their PSUs (Multi Tasking Staff, Class IV and Group D employees are not excluded).
- Retired pensioners getting Rs 10,000 or more a month (same exception).
- Anyone who paid income tax in the last assessment year.
- Doctors, engineers, lawyers, chartered accountants and architects registered with their professional bodies and in practice.
Documents required for PM-KISAN
- Aadhaar
- Land record (record of rights / khatauni)
- Bank account linked to Aadhaar
- Mobile number
How to apply for PM-KISAN, step by step
- Keep your Aadhaar, land record and Aadhaar-linked bank account details ready.
- Open pmkisan.gov.in, go to Farmers Corner and choose New Farmer Registration. You can also register at a Common Service Centre (CSC) or through the village revenue officer (Patwari / Lekhpal).
- Enter your Aadhaar and mobile number, fill in the land and bank details and upload the land record.
- The State government checks the land record. Once it approves, your name joins the beneficiary list.
- Complete e-KYC: by OTP on pmkisan.gov.in, by face authentication in the PM-KISAN app, or by fingerprint at a CSC.
- Track the application and every instalment under Know Your Status. The benefit is Rs 6,000 a year in three instalments of Rs 2,000.
