DPIIT startup recognition: eligibility, documents and how to apply for it
Who can apply for DPIIT startup recognition
- A private limited company, LLP or registered partnership firm incorporated less than 10 years ago.
- Turnover below Rs 100 crore in every year since incorporation.
- Working on innovation, on improving products or services, or on a scalable business model. It must not be formed by splitting up or reconstructing an existing business.
Documents required for DPIIT startup recognition
- Certificate of incorporation
- PAN
- Short description of the innovation, with supporting material (website, pitch deck, patent, etc.)
How to apply for DPIIT startup recognition, step by step
- Register the entity (company, LLP or partnership).
- Create an account on startupindia.gov.in and open the DPIIT recognition application on the National Single Window System (nsws.gov.in).
- Fill in the entity details and describe the innovation, attaching the documents listed above.
- Download the recognition certificate once it is approved.
- Apply separately for the Section 80-IAC income tax exemption if you need it.
