Who can use Nari Adalat (village women's courts)
- Women in the Gram Panchayats where a Nari Adalat runs. It began as a pilot in Assam and Jammu and Kashmir and is being extended to more States.
How to use Nari Adalat (village women's courts), step by step
- Ask your Gram Panchayat whether a Nari Adalat (with its Nyaya Sakhis) has been set up.
- Bring disputes such as harassment, denial of rights or family conflict to it.
- Both sides are called for counselling and mediation, and witnesses can be heard.
- For crimes, go to the police or the One Stop Centre. A Nari Adalat does not replace an FIR.
