Who can use One Stop Centres (Sakhi) and Women Helpline 181
- Any woman or girl facing violence at home, at work or in public, whatever her caste, class, religion, age or marital status.
- Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, also under this head, is an awareness programme with no application.
How to use One Stop Centres (Sakhi) and Women Helpline 181, step by step
- Call the Women Helpline 181 (24 hours) for help, information and referral. In an emergency, call 112.
- Go to the One Stop Centre of your district (usually at or near the district hospital). It is open 24 hours.
- The centre gives emergency shelter for up to 5 days, medical help, counselling and police and legal help, and helps file the FIR.
- Ask the centre to connect you with free legal aid from the District Legal Services Authority.
