- Any woman can go to the Women Help Desk of a police station.
How to use Women Help Desks in police stations, step by step
- Go to the police station and ask for the Women Help Desk, staffed by women police officers where possible.
- Give your complaint. Police must register an FIR for a cognisable offence; a Zero FIR can be filed at any station.
- Ask for a copy of the FIR, and for referral to legal aid, counselling or the One Stop Centre.
